Mohd Yaziz Bin Mohd Hassan has been actively involved in Traditional Malay Music & Culture since his early days in school. His passion in this musical genre has brought him to many cultural exchanges, performances, workshops and competitions, both locally and internationally. In his 15-years musical career, Mohd Yaziz has bagged close to 20 awards in Dikir Barat and Traditional Malay Music competitions.


As part of the Co-Founder / Managing Director of Nadi Singapura Ltd, Asst Leader for Singapore Malay Orchestra, Singapore Pop Orchestra and ex-President of the Singapore Dikir Barat Federation, he had also brought Traditional Malay Music & Culture to the international stage through performances and workshops in Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, Thailand, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, India, Netherlands, Russia, Mexico and Ireland. In year 2005, he had conducted 700 students at the Singapore Drumming Festival and represented Singapore at the Commonwealth Youth Programme held in India, where more than 20 countries were involved.


In the recent years, with Nadi Singapura Ltd and People’s Association, he has played a significant role in bringing Traditional Malay Music & Culture to modern audience. As a facilitator and percussionist, he teaches and performs for Art’s Education Programme ischools. He had wowed many local, as well as international audiences from as far as Mexico. Besides capturing his audience’s heart with his work on Malay traditional percussion, he has never failed to mesmerize them with sweet and melodious tunes from his array of traditional flutes. Recently, he had been awarded
the Singapore National Day Parade 2009 Silver Award for being the NDP09 Show Committee. For YOG 2010, he is the Head Choreographer/Instructor of the Kompang Group Performance. For 2011, he is the artistic direction for the Chingay Dikir Barat Malay Contingent. In the same year, he is also the chief choreographer for the Dikir Barat and Percussion in Gentarasa.
